Wisdom teeth removal, Geelong
Wisdom teeth are also known as ‘third molars’. They are usually a set of four molar teeth that erupt in the very back corners of your mouth, often between the ages of 17 and 21.
Wisdom teeth often don’t have enough room to erupt correctly and either become stuck or trapped (impacted), or grow at odd angles behind adjacent teeth or within the jaw itself. This can lead to problems such as swelling and tenderness in the surrounding gums and cheeks, or in severe cases external swelling of the face. This situation requires immediate emergency treatment. Wisdom teeth can cause decay in adjacent teeth where they make awkward contact, and can decay quite easily themselves if their accessibility to brushing is difficult.
Our dentists here at Wyatt Ryan Dental, after a comprehensive assessment including dental X-rays, will at times recommend the removal of wisdom teeth
